Ask God To Reveal Your Heart To You; Results May Vary Depending On Your Heart.

God Himself will reveal your heart when you ask Him. But do not be surprised at the results of what He exposes that needs to change.

Psalm 26:2

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my mind and my heart.

• Have you ever asked God to reveal your heart to you? I have, and the results were more horrible than I imagined. However, we must understand a few things here: [1] God does not do this in order to shame or bring misery. The Holy Spirit ‘convicts of sin’ that we may repent and believe. [2] God does not take any pride or glee in what He shows to us, as He already knows the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ of every human decision before it is even carried out. [3] God does not leave our hearts in a mire. He is the Author, Perfecter and Finisher of our faith for His glory.

• Is your mind renewed in Christ Jesus? We are commanded to ‘be in the world, but not of the world’, even as it continues to pressure us to ‘line in’ with it right now with all of its many changes, supposed ‘golden age’ and ‘human progress’, which in the end, is nothing more than pride and sin which is no different than the tower of Babel and every other corrupt moment in human history where man attempted to ‘make a name for himself’.

• It is a healthy thing when a disciple of Jesus asks for Him to ‘reveal my heart to me’, because this will help one to recognize things that they are refusing to change or surrender to His will for their lives. In reality, one does not grow unless they face refinement, and refinement in and of itself requires difficulty and facing painful seasons where the sanctification draws the ‘ugly’ out of us, while the Holy Spirit begins to take up more residence and helps us to be used more and more for the glory of God.
