Joy. Light. Truth.

If our joy in the Lord is not like little children, then we shall not enter the Kingdom of God.

Psalm 43:3/4

Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God.

• Have you ever experienced the ‘joy that surpasses all understanding’? I firmly believe that this joy is not one which the world professes to bring, but a joy that only comes in fully trusting and serving God with your entire being. If one cannot reach this point, it will either be conformed religion at best, or hypocrisy at worst. The joy of the Lord being our strength lies not in our own ability, but in resting in His perfect sovereignty as we serve Him faithfully, repent genuinely and give ourselves fully over to His will for our lives.

• One of the beautiful things about the word ‘Light’ is that it tends to be used in reference to ‘understanding’ or ‘clarity’ in regard to the Word of God and truth overall. So in order for us to fully be in the joy, light and truth of God, we must be ‘rooted’ in Christ alone (John 15:1/8). Not in an ‘idea’ of Him, but the Jesus who is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

• I believe that in eternity will this joy be fully realized. When we no longer have a reality of sin and death, and all tears will have been wiped away (Revelation 21:4), we will finally know TRUE JOY once again that Adam and Eve had with their Creator before the fall. This is the ultimate YEARNING of each soul throughout the ages. It will be met and fulfilled when Jesus returns to end this wicked age.
