Let's talk about not putting words in the mouth of God.
Taking God seriously at His Word is using the lens of John 14:26 and John 16:13.
Not taking God seriously at His Word is ignoring the warnings in 2nd Corinthians 11:3/4.
The end result of not taking God seriously at His Word or trusting in the conviction and guidance of the Holy Spirit leads to following an 'idea' of Jesus and conforming Him to the image of a 'founder' of a religion, a 'system' of thought, a 'practice' of tradition and not simply following Jesus and doing as He commands (Matthew 22:36/40, Matthew 28:18/20).
