The Faith That Overcomes All Things.

When Jesus commands: "He who overcomes shall be saved", what He is doing is urging the saint to cling to HIM, no matter what it will cost us.

1st John 5:1/5

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

  • When we place our faith in what Jesus has accomplished on the cross, this begins the process of coming 'out' of the world. We repent, and then believe in the perfect and unfailing sacrifice of Jesus on the cross (John 3:16/21), opening the 'door' (John 10:7/18), to a new heart and a new mind (Romans 12:2), and ultimately, being restored in relationship to our Creator in eternity. None of this is possible in our own merit or our own methods, but only through Christ Jesus alone (John 14:6).

  • To love God and keep His commandments (which people tend to hate that word), it simply means a few things... to place your faith in what Christ Jesus has accomplished, to love God with your entire being, and your fellow man as yourself (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:36/40), and then to go out and do what Jesus has commanded (Matthew 28:18/20).

  • Our faith 'overcomes' only because of what Jesus has accomplished. It only endures because of what Jesus has accomplished. It learns and grows if we stay TRUE to the Vine (John 15:4/8). In this can we love people as God has loved us, by showing the truth in love and not merely speaking it or trying to 'sound smart' to 'win arguments'.
