Jesus warns us in Matthew 24:9/14 about 'offense', 'betrayal' and persecution even from family, loved ones and possibly other believers (depending on the language in your translation), as well as multitudes of false prophets rising up and misleading many.
All of this is in the context of what leads up to the Day of the Lord and the end of the age. The world will be in such a bad position while proclaiming 'peace and safety', many will continue on with 'life as usual', utterly ignoring or being oblivious to the signs of the times (Matthew 24:37/44).
We also have a few crowds of theology and ideology that have put people into the perfect position to be offended, enraged and even denying the Lord Jesus when facing the realities of persecution and martyrdom:
Those holding to the pretribulational ideology (as it is not biblical, it is an old gnostic heresy) have become so focused on rapture dates, self-preservation, signs and wonders in the sky, mixing conspiracy with eschatology (blaming the rapture on UFO's, etc) that they miss the bloody history of the church, the reality of martyrdom and the current reality of the underground church who endures faithfully even to death.
Preterists, who believe that everything in Revelation 'happened in 70AD', and 'we are in the Kingdom now', ignoring the current reality of the world and proclaiming 'it will get better in time'. They are in the perfect position to be offended at the Lord Jesus when He Himself brings the end (Revelation 1-3), and their self-wisdom (Isaiah 5:21) will have had them caught in the false comforts of the beast system (where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers have fallen asleep, all things continue as they were).
Antisemites/Replacement 'theologians', who outright disregard the eternal promises given by God to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants (Genesis 15, Jeremiah 33:19/26, Romans 11), get their theology from Martin Luther (who wrote a book called 'the Jews and their lies', that inspired Hitler to carry out his 'final solution'... that book is still published and spread out today) among other talking heads paid to lie to the masses (Tucker Carlson, Joel Webbon, Douglas Wilson, Alex Jones, Candice Owens, Nick Fuentes, Alexander Dugin, etc), these types are already embracing the spirit of antichrist and are proud of it when they slander Jews with the term 'Christ Is King' (we know that Christ is King, but they use it in contempt towards Jews, and proudly so).
The 'Kingdom Now' movement, which is full of Christian Nationalists who seek to 'conquer the world for Christ' with the sword and violence (with some scripture in between). These types fall in with the replacement theology and antisemite crowd, as they have a rage and contempt for anything regarding the Jewish people. They seek to 'take the world for Jesus' and teach that 'we will give the Kingdom to Jesus when He returns', thus making it about 'them', and not Christ Jesus.
All of these have one thing in common: They did not get the memo of 2nd Corinthians 11:3/4...
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!
They 'put up' with false teaching, with that which tickles their ears, with that which 'sounds wonderful' and that which has a 'pinch' of truth, but is full of lies with hypocrisy and delusion. I myself used to hold to pretribulationalism because I was TOLD to, and pushed to read the Left Behind series. I came out of it through the conviction of the Holy Spirit and simple study of the Word outside of any teachers. I used to hold to replacement theology because I was TOLD TO by antisemites online who made it sound convincing. I used to believe in Kingdom Now, because it sounded glorifying... it is poison that ignores the AUTHORITY and SOVEREIGNTY of God, spits in His face regarding His eternal promises to Israel and places ones trust in the doctrines of man and demons instead.
So how exactly does any of this lead to a SHIPWRECK of faith?
- Pretribulationalists are expecting to leave 7 years before the tribulation and not face any difficulty whatsoever. They have been taught to ignore the realities of persecution and martyrdom because: "God would be mean and beating up His bride if He allows us to face anything difficult, and thus would not love us"... forgetting that Jesus suffered and died 'to set an example for us to follow' (1st Peter 2:21/25), also ignoring the bloody history of the church and current reality of the underground church and martyrdom for ALL saints who remain faithful.
- Preterists are expecting everything to 'get better', and when they see things get worse and the things of Revelation happen in their lifetime, be either conflicted and repent, or outright deny Jesus and follow the antichrist.
- Antisemites/Replacement theologians will join in with the antichrist (if they do not repent) and their lives will end in judgement and the realities of: Isaiah 63:1/6 and Revelation 19:11/21. Many who hold to these types of rhetoric now are embracing Islam as an 'ally', which is dangerous beyond measure.
ALL OF THIS is mass deception from the god of this age. He has been cultivating the soil of the hearts of multitudes for generations now, and the 'seeds of destruction' are currently sprouting (Matthew 13:1/23, 24-30). When the 'man of sin' is revealed (the falling away is currently happening in our time), he will speak 'great blasphemies', which will be against both Israel, God, His throne, His promises and Jesus Himself, and MANY will believe the antichrist (if possible, even the elect).
I beg and warn those who read this and hold to those antichrist ideologies... repent and wake up while there is still time. LISTEN to the conviction of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26, John 16:13), stop following conformed ideas by men and demons, and TEST ALL THINGS while it is still called 'today'.
Time is short, and a shipwreck of faith for many is coming.
