1st John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Do you love this world and life too much? If our time is spent too much on chasing the vanities of this life (money, politics, sex, power, fame, etc), then we may hear Jesus tell us: "I never knew you". Many will attempt to proclaim to the Lord on that day: "But Lord Lord, didn't I do XYZ or follow XYZ cause in Your name?" and He will proclaim to them: "I never knew you" because they will have followed an IDEA of Him in unrighteousness and vanity (2nd Corinthians 11:3/4), VS following Him as He is (Hebrews 13:8, John 14:26, John 16:13).
As we see the world racing towards a supposed 'golden age', many will attempt to justify it, praise it and even condemn you for 'not taking part in it' (1st Peter 4:1/6), while being so comfortable with it, when the judgement comes, they will condemn God Himself and Christ Jesus for bringing it and end up joining in with the antichrist to go to war with Him at the end (Revelation 19:11/21).
We are pilgrims in this world. Our true home is with the Father, and our King Jesus. We look forward to His perfect Kingdom and restoration of all things, while leaving this wicked and evil age behind us. We cry MARANATHA because we understand that this current reality of vanity and delusion is only temporary.
