Glorify The One Who Saves Us.

We cannot receive salvation, redemption or resurrection without Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Psalm 50:15

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

• There is a false dichotomy in the church today where one believes that when God ‘delivers us’, that it suddenly means that He ‘removes us from trouble’, and yet, this is not at all what the word ‘deliver’ truly means in every context. When we look at the examples in scripture, we see so many times were the trouble was not removed from the person, but that they were given the faith to endure through the difficulty. This is no different today for each of us in Christ Jesus.

• I can even consider many times in my own life where God taught me valuable lessons and increased my faith, but did not remove me from the difficulty itself. God does not ‘coddle’ us, but He does love us enough to bring refinement and change in our character that He may be glorified. To be delivered is not a removal from discomfort, but God being faithful to preserve us in the midst of it.

• Does this mean that God never removes us from difficulty? Far from it. There are also plenty of times where God keeps people from near death experiences because He is preserving their lives to glorify Himself and keep their work for His Kingdom going until an appointed time, and then there are moments where one becomes a martyr for the faith, and then there are times where their death becomes a testimony to glorify God. The beautiful reality is that God delivers at any of these times in His own way, that He may be glorified. We must accept His deliverance as He chooses to use it at any given time.
