The King of kings who hears our praises.

Psalm 47:6/8
Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with understanding. God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.
We see multitudes of scriptures throughout the entirety of the bible that show us the absolute Majesty and Glory of God as King over all of the earth. This scripture in particular has one verse that stands out: ‘Sing praises with understanding’. What do you believe that this actually means? When looking at the biblical definition of the word ‘understanding’ in this context, we see one thing that stands out… ‘to give attention to’. I believe that this means we should revere God. Have a holy fear of Him. Understand what He is capable of, and who He truly is AS we sing praises to Him.
Because God is perfectly sovereign over this world, and over our very lives, we can trust Him and know very well that He has a Grand Design for our lives to bring Him glory. We do not merely go to a building on Sundays and follow the worship team in song, but we seek to praise God with our very being in all that we think, say and do.
Our very lives are to be a poured-out vessel for God in all things. When we do this, we are SINGING PRAISES WITH UNDERSTANDING, not merely with our lips, but most importantly, our actions. We must strive to the realities of Matthew 22:36/40 as well as Matthew 28:18/20, understanding that our praise is not just in song or with words, but in following the example of our Risen Savior and King and making Him known.
